Okay, here's my first attempt at a poem on GU. Hopefully it's not too obscure and someone will get something out of it.
With shining eyes I glance at the starry night.
A streak of gold drawing through the dark sky.
A sparkling drop stuttering down cautiously,
Reflected in the moon's light.
The vista of darkness twinkles peacefully with white specks.
Auras of blue, flares of red.
So much more than a pretty sight;
The height of imagination.
Praying up above, wishing on a star,
My mind's eye sheds another tear.
Trying to hold back, but pouring out.
Not an easy choice when it's to do or to die.
Supported by angel wings, yet anchored by a trident.
Is the moon half empty or half full?
Waxing and waning my confidence goes,
The last pulsing wish to duty, to fulfillment.
Th tears of the moon,
The pain of cosmic memories.
To start over in distant worlds would be
Like drowning out the cry of the planet.
The cry of the planet...
The tears of the moon...
Why?
Because I've lost.
And so, with shining eyes, I glance at the starry night.
A streak of gold drawing through the night sky.
Sparkling drops cascading down uncontrollably,
Overwhelmed by the moon's light.

End of the Road
In two days, we'll be sadly departing from our homely middle school, well, if you can call it that. With so many of us in the Gifted program going for new programs like CyberARTs, IB, and TOPs, it's likely that some of us will lose contact with each other. However, it's also likely that some of us will not only stay in touch, but remain close friends. This is what I hope happens to the 8 writers here at Giftees United, and that we continue posting even after we go our separate ways.
Perhaps we do continue posting, and that we keep each other up to date about what's happening at our new schools, well, honestly, we're going to need a major over heave of the infrastructure we've laid down so far. Especially the name of this blog. And the "Meet the Giftees" section as well. But these are minor issues.
We all agree that the last two years of our life are the best we've ever had, but it's not like once we leave we lose those two years. Keep the memories close to your heart and you'll never lose what you've learned over the last two years. There are always new people to meet, and new things to try out, and one's got to take risks in life eventually. All great discoveries are made with trial and error anyways. Or just plain serendipity.
But in the end, life must go on, and it is here that our road ends. It is the road we've treaded so enduringly for these last 8 years, and even more so the last 2. This road has shown us many great things, and for some, some things best not seen. But not only here is where the road ends, it is also where new ones start. We stand at crossroads, filled with uncertainty, but I'm sure we can all look out for a bright future, and may we never let these two years fade from our hearts, and let us always remember the good times, the bad times, the friends, and of course, the memories, that we bring with us from J.B. Tyrrell!

Two Days
I'm not going to say much as I'm kinda feeling a bit low right now, but as you can tell from the title, there are only two more days of school left. But this time, none of us are jumping for joy. I know, you can say it's summer and all that other crap (excuse the swearing please), but seriously, the giftees have TWO DAYS left together, and that's not nearly enough time. Right now I wish time would stop. Call me sentimental, nostalgic, or whatever - I don't really care. Reflecting back, the gifted years were the best years of my life so far. So... yeah, can't you see why I feel so bad? Oh and also, SingYu brought up a good point just now, actually. In two days I won't even be a giftee anymore... so does that mean I can't even post on this blog? 'Cause that would really suck.
You know what, I think I'll stop bothering you with my pessimistic thoughts now, and go mope in peace. On a brighter note, both Ottawa and Grad were really fun. That's all I'm gonna say for now. Good night. :/

Isolation: Day 1
Looks like I have the whole blog to myself for most of the next 2 days! Well, other than [h.e.n] who seems to have gone into a spring/summer hibertation. Anyways...
Ummm... Yeah, that's what I feel like right now. That whole canvas of blank space. Or more like, that's how I which I felt. The bliss of the unfeeling...
The bus started it's engine. I stood beside Shirley who was sitting on his bike, as we both waved blindly through the dark tinted windows towards the pairs of silhouettes spaced out across the vehicle. I didn't want them to leave. I didn't want to know what the day would be like. As the door started to close, I had a mad urge to dive through the crack, just like I would in a volleyball keep-up game. And then, with a snap, the gap closed up. The noise of the engine picked up, and the wheels started to turn. I begged silently for the bus to stay back, but no amount of willpower would have tethered that machine.
It was hard not to dread what lay close ahead. The prospect of being jumbled with another class was somber, especially after learning from Al that we were with 8F. As a member of 8J, Al's class was paired with 8G, and he didn't attempt to hide his satisfaction as we saw an 8G boy holding a bag with an Xbox 360 inside it.
"Good morning Ms. C!" I said, walking into the music room in the morning. I handed her the attendance which was filled with copies of our schedule for the thirteen people from 8F, as well as their class list. After getting everyone organized, Ms. C decided that it would be most appropriate to throw on a movie, since she couldn't exactly teach a lesson. The title she selected was Rossini's Ghost, from the Composer's Specials series that made the other two movies we'd been watching: Bach's Fight for Freedom, and Liszt's Rhapsody, but the advantage this time was that we didn't have to do worksheets. Small comfort, compared to the fact that most of 8h had already seen this one before. However, I should not have been complaining, for the worst had yet to come.
"Good morning, 8H!" Came the voice of Mrs. P.
"Good morning, Mrs. P." We echoed, much less enthusiastically.
"Okay, everyone from both classes, sit where you normally do when I have you, and maybe there won't be a conflict." Surprisingly, there were only two people displaced from their spots. Mrs. P then proceeded to arrange everyone so that each 8Her was next to an 8Fer. "Now, everyone, I want you to remember to ALWAYS walk with your math textbooks for the next three days. We will be having math for almost every core and science period, and maybe I'll throw in some DPA, if I feel like it..." There was a groan from everyone, but all hope was not yet lost. An 8F girl raised her hand.
"We've already handed our books back to Mr. B."
"Really?" asked a shocked Mrs. P. Everyone nodded. Then a few people gave lines like, "So... we shouldn't have math anymore, right?"
"All right then, how many people are in this room?" She counted about 17. "That's perfect then, everyone in my class has a book, and since you're each sitting beside someone from the other class, you can share! Ed, you'll be in a group of three. 8H, go to your lockers to get your textbooks." A unanimous groan from us. Then, more horrible than one could possibly imagine after we returned:
"Okay, so everyone flip to page 19. Now, starting from here, I want you to work in pairs on every single Mental Math, Curious Math, and Math Game in the book. No skipping!" She smiled. "Now, how many people are depressed?" Everyone raised their hands. "Good." And so the torture began...
The bell was about to ring for period three. I watched the red second hand tick past the six on the clock. So close...
"Right, so you guys have French next. But Mrs. H is away today, so I'm covering for her."

*She also gave us a sample of some banana bread that she made, except this time it was more like bread pudding, and she added chocolate chips. After the bell rang, we went to Mr. S for geography. We took up our geo projects (design a city) and had some free time, then had lunch.
Back to triple core, we continued the onslaught of math, but thankfully, halfway through period seven she switched to English where we did two activities from her book. She also gave back some math and science tests, which I did terribly on. For one thing, out of everyone who was there, I got the lowest science test mark. Yes, JQ scored higher than I did on a science test. By more than one mark. During the last period, we had our daily physical activity, and that was extra fun because we set up the volleyball nets, and set the ball properly 2/2 times, and I even spiked properly 2/2 times, even after colliding in mid-air with someone was was trying to spike the same set.
Back in the classroom for homeroom, we were treated to two more of Mrs. P's delicious cakes. This time, she had a golden almond cake with what looked like a coarse confectioner's sugar icing (which I found to be even better than the classic chocolate/vanilla ones she usually made), and a cinnamon nutmeg bread pudding with raisins, and a limited edition caramelized coconut icing. By limited edition, I mean that she isn't planning on making that cake with coconut icing agin, due to the very time draining process. Unfortunately, the icing was the best part, and everyone agreed that it was awesome. Too bad the rest of 8H won't get to try it!
*Note: At this point, Blogger cut off everything else I wrote after I posted (damn you), so I'm just summarizing what you should have seen.

Winging It
On Monday, by the time I wake up for school, everyone else will probably be boarding the bus to Ottawa, talking, laughing, having fun. Meanwhile, I will get ready for another normal day. Well, it won't be so normal, actually, as the poor souls of 8H are going to be shoved together with the poor souls of 8F or G (forgot). And by poor, I mean it both ways. While they laugh and talk and have fun, I will be attending classes with people I don't know, and people I don't really want to know.
For THREE days, this will continue, as they talk and laugh and have fun while we learn about things we don't want to learn about. For THREE days, they will visit museums and nice restaurants and hotel rooms while we visit classrooms and the crappy cafeteria and our own bedrooms. At least we don't have to go to school on Tuesday, but that's because we are also too poor to afford the Playdium trip. But then again, they don't have school for those THREE days because they're in Ottawa, enjoying their time.
I'll be seething for a while, not because I can't go, but because I'm missing three days with a lot of friends (not to say that there aren't friends who aren't going either), and it's the end of the year, so I'd like to spend as much time as possible with them.
But I'll find something(s) to occupy myself with. Hopefully. I BETTER. Have fun, everyone else!

The End is Near D:
I can't believe it, but there are only two full weeks left of school! ...Except that means one thing - only two weeks left of giftees. I seriously can't believe that the school year is coming to a close. It seems like just yesterday when everyone came back from summer vacation, eager to find out which class they were in this year. And now, already, it is time to start saying our goodbyes. But the most important thing is, this is the last year of the giftees.
Though now that I come to think of it the Fox and Seneca giftees only spent two years together, we have definitely become really good friends. And now we are each going to go our separate ways. Of course there will still be a few giftees left, continuing on in high school, but many of us are going to Cyber(Arts), TOPS, and IB - meaning different schools. I sure hope everyone can keep in touch with each other...
On a lighter note however, the end of the school year means two things - Ottawa and Grad! The grade 8's are going on a 3-day graduation trip to Ottawa, two days before Graduation itself. Most of the giftees will be going - I guess it is one last chance to spend time each other. Then, right after Ottawa, is our graduation itself. There will be the ceremony, as well as a dinner-dance at a nearby restaurant afterwards. That will be a time to relax, and just enjoy the rest of the time together.
The two "Tyrrell-Giftee" years have definitely been filled with tons of good memories... this goodbye is going to be bittersweet, and we all know it. But for now, it's time to concentrate on the good times and awesome memories we've all had. If anyone is interested, we could make a whole blog post dedicated to the two years at Tyrrell, and all the memories everyone has. That way, we can always keep these years in our heart. :)

Can't Breathe
This is a parody of Ke$ha's Tik Tok that I made a long time ago, so I thought I would share it. I hope Singyu doesn't mind... But anyways, the idea came to me in an epiphany, and I was surprised how naturally the lyrics fit in.
Wake up in the morning holding my machete,
Grab my face mask, I'm out the back,
I'm gonna hide in the city.
Before I leave, set the ray bomb to Singyu *Censor*'s house,
Cause if he lives for the night, I ain't coming back.
I'm talking - massacre on the roads, roads,
Chemicals on our clothes, clothes,
Singyu blowing up our phones, phones.
Dropping dead, playing his favourite past time,
Heads or tails on the dime, dime,
Either way we're all dead soon.
Can't breathe, Singyu please,
Don't strangle me no more.
No air, blood and gore,
All splattered on the floor.
Rising, flying up, losing sense of this world, gasping
What happened to the fairness in you?
(Repeat)
Ain't got a fear in this world 'cept his swift killing stare,
And his guns, and his poisons and his tear gas right there,
And now the creepy looking sword that he keeps by his side,
But the real threat is his strangling unless it's benign.
I'm talking about everybody getting punched, punched,
Fed to Luxiang for his lunch, lunch,
Gonna get digested in a bunch, bunch.
Now, now - we suffer 'til he clears us out,
Or the police shut him down, down,
Police shut him down, down,
Police get beat down.
Can't breathe, Singyu please,
Don't strangle me no more.
No more, blood and gore,
All spattered on the floor.
Rising, flying up, losing sense of this world, gasping
What happened to the fairness in you?
(Repeat)
Singyu, you cut me up,
You break me down.
My heart, it pounds,
Yeah, you got me.
With my hands tied,
You got me now,
You got be bound,
Yeah, you got me.
Singyu, you cut me up,
You break me down.
My heart, it pounds,
Yeah, you got me.
With my hands tied,
And your hands up,
About to stri-i-i-i-ike,
Now the dying don't start 'till he walks in.
Can't breathe, Singyu please
Don't strangle me no more,
No air, blood and gore,

SC: Walk Away - Part II "It's All in the Number"
Five years ago she had, in a fit of anger and despair, thrown the bills into a basement cupboard, avoiding them like the Black Plague itself...
... Now it was time to go. She was moving on, out into a new chapter of her life. She stared at the bills before her, uncovered from behind a big bottle of chlorine and an old mop. She wondered if she should even take them with her - they brought back too many painful memories...
Wearily, she reached towards the money, flipping through and wondering how much there really was. Suddenly, a folded slip of paper caught her eye. She reached towards it almost subconsciously.
Janet,
You'll think me a coward for not telling you face-to-face, but I assure you it is for the best of both our lives. However, I really just need you to know...
4-5683-968
Her eyes burned through the numbers. Hastily, she grabbed her cell and dialled.
Sorry, but the number you are calling does not exist. Please try again.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Later on, she would try all she could to find him, and the one thing he so desperately wanted her to know... But really, it's all just in the number.
[Note:
If you are wondering, what the man is trying to tell her is, in fact, in the SC. Like I keep repeating... it's all in the number.]

Sigh.
You know when somebody you trust with something does something so completely and utterly stupid, and you feel completely let down? Well, it's happened to me twice now. I've come to the conclusion that I just have a) very bad luck, or b) very bad choice in friends, and who to trust in general. I think Marylin Monroe's quote best sums up how I feel right now. "I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best."
Anyways, on a lighter tone, HAPPY BIRTHDAY YANTAN! ;D
And today was the track meet. How'd Halalcohol do?
It's almost grad, and the end of school. And I'm so glad it's almost over, I don't think I can stand another month of this. Anybody else looking forward to when we go our separate directions, or just summer in general? Share your thoughts please. :)

One Hundred Dollars
One hundred dollars can buy
a complete set of Twilight books;
a small bag of weed;
a round-trip train ticket;
One hundred dollars can buy one hundred things from the dollar store.
One hundred dollars can help
four girls in Africa;
six children get access to precious education;
three children fight against malaria;
One hundred dollars can help two families obtain fresh, clean water.
One hundred dollars can destroy
a priceless painting;
a local landmark;
a public gathering;
One hundred dollars can destroy countless lives.
One hundred dollars can save
children;
adults;
seniors;
One hundred dollars can save families around the world.
One hundred dollars can
make someone's day;
steal a life away;
light up a smile, or a few;
buy away a piece of someone's soul;
One hundred dollars can fill the gap between life and death.

Fanfics!
"HERMIONE AND DRACO FOREVER! OHMIGOSH, I love the wedding chapter..."
Yes, yes. I know what you're thinking right now. If you've read Harry Potter, then you'd probably know that Hermione Granger doesn't end up with Draco, but with Ron Weasley. Yes, the red-headed dude who completes the Harry-Hermione-Ron trio. But that's just wrong, totally wrong. You see, Hermione should have ended up with DRACO MALFOY. It works. They've got the whole love/hate relationship thing going for them. Are you reading this thinking WHAT THE HECK IS SHE BLABBERING ON ABOUT...then just keep reading. Have some patience.
Okay, for those who don't like Harry Potter. Ever wondered what would have happened if Bella HADN'T ended up with Edward? Or if Rose hadn't ended up with Jack (in the titanic?) Well then, wonder no more! There's this awesome new thing I've been obsessed with recently, and that is FANFICTION! It's exactly as its name implies. Stories by fans, written for fans. For almost any movie or television series, or even book you can think of, there are fanfics for you to read.
Fanfics mean alternate endings, or explanations for parts that may not have made sense in the original book. They can be funny, romantic, scary, or a mix of those.
Many excellent writers share their views on what SHOULD have happened, and make it a reality with their well-written stories.
And have you ever wondered what it would be like if different story worlds combined? For example, how would Harry Potter react to meeting Jace Wayland? Well, there's a section called "crossovers" that have exactly this type of story. It's highly recommended, so go check it out!
The best part is, if you have time, you can write stories too! And others can read and review, and this way, we won't feel sad when our favorite story series end. Because they'll always live on. Just like Draco and Hermione's love will always live on. :)
